Jungfraujoch

Standing on the Jungfraujoch, 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it from the very first step: this is a different world. One that you have to experience.

An excursion to the highest railroad station in Europe is an absolute highlight. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of snow, ice and glaciers on the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe. The journey is particularly impressive in the winter months. The railroad line runs past the foot of the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau triumvirate and right through the natural idyll of the Jungfrau Region. The impressive intermediate stop at the Eismeer station surprises you with a breathtaking view through a viewing window set into the rock.

Once you reach the Jungfraujoch, a varied world of experiences awaits you. A 250 m long corridor connects the various adventure halls. Modern moving walkways lead you comfortably past an impressive picture gallery. These pictures will introduce you to the beginnings of the Jungfrau Railway.

The tour through the frosty, magical ice palace is a real highlight. Along the way, you will discover various works of art in niches that have been sculpted with great skill by ice artists. Eagles, penguins and bears look as if they have just turned to ice. The ice corridor was created in the 1930s by mountain guides using pickaxes and saws.

Once you have acclimatized to the mountain air inside the Jungfraujoch, it's time to enjoy the panorama outside in the snow. Icy air caresses your face, snow crunches under your feet and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Central Plateau as far as the Vosges mountains, on the other the Aletsch glacier, lined with four-thousand-metre peaks.

Another highlight is certainly the imposing Sphinx viewing terrace from which you can marvel at the impressive view of the eternal ice of the mighty Aletsch Glacier, which is part of the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site. In good weather, rays of sunshine illuminate the snow-covered world of snow and ice, creating a magical sparkle.
