Path around the Staufen

A beautiful loop around Staufen, the striking, cone-shaped local mountain. Quite easy except for two short, steep climbs. If you’d like, you can extend the tour to the summit.

From the train station along Immenstädter Straße to the town limits. From there, continue on the hiking trail to Wengener Stadel with its horse stable. Turn right and follow the signposted trail “Um den Staufen.” After passing through the first section of forest with a short climb, you’ll reach the back side of the Staufen with an unobstructed view of the Hündle and the Konstanz Valley. After another climb, the trail continues over undulating terrain to the combined heat and power plant.

After crossing the railroad tracks toward Rainwald, keep to the right there and head back to the starting point via the Lenzhalde. Alternatively, walk the last few meters along the road past the railroad tunnel and—if you’re up for more—follow the signs to the Staufen (1,032 m).
