Bus stop Rastkogelbahn, Vorderlanersbach

Lanersbach 492, Tux
Dreamlike panoramic hike to what was once the highest mine in Europe. Even before the first tourists came to the valley, the most important era for the economic development of the Tux Valley began with the discovery of the magnesite deposits. Up to 400 people earned their living by mining and smelting the refractory rock. We hike from Vorderlanersbach to the Schrofenalm, visit the Barbara Chapel with its fresco by Tyrolean painter Max Weiler. Here we learn more about the former factory settlement, which in addition to residential buildings also had an elementary school, canteen, department store, cinema, swimming pool and ski lift. After a leisurely stop at the Penkenjoch, the cable car takes us back down to the valley.
