The Prettau mine was very famous for its copper about 600 years ago. So 1426 was the upswing when the ore came to light at about 2000 meters. The tunnels, which were driven centimeter by centimeter into the rock with simple tools at that time, are masterpieces. Sometimes it took decades until mining was profitable.
Today the mine is only a show mine. We take the train 1 km deep into the Ignaz Stollen and then walk from this station through the show gallery. The guided tour in the mountain is 360 meters long and runs on 2 levels. After about 75 minutes we reach again the station in the open air
This excursion is not suitable for dogs and people with claustrophobia.
Start with the hotel bus (limited places, individual ride possible).
