Geremia Da Zanche
The Miramonti Park Hotel was acquired in 1992 by Clara and Geremia Da Zanche.
Today the reins of the hotel are held by their sons Dario and Lucio, also assisted by their father Geremia.
I was born in a small village in the middle of the Dolomites mountains during the Second World War, on Christmas Day in 1941.
The memories of my early childhood are a bit faded but since the war certain things and certain feelings accompany you throughout your life.
I had the good fortune to be born in a clean and tidy town, I dare say almost "fairy-tale" in the middle of the green meadows and the majesty of the woods of firs, larches and beeches where every family owned a whole house and where the word "pollution" was unknown. Solidarity and commitment to families who had less was the norm, not the exception.
As a child I attended the only school in the village with classes of five to ten children per class and the middle school was 20 km from my village. I went to meadows and woods often barefoot not to wear out the soles of my shoes, a little for pleasure, a little to get firewood and fodder for the cow, the only real source of food. In this context the passion for the mountains and climbing is a logical consequence.
As soon as I turned thirteen with my father I went to stuff chairs, in amusement "counts". It was very hard work; as an emigrant we worked house to house and slept in barns. That winter was the year 1956, the coldest of the century when the poplars were bursting from the cold.
In the following years I went to the seminary in Rome but I missed my mountains.
Given the proximity of my village to Fiera di Primiero and Passo Rolle where I often went climbing, I got to know the Soccorso Alpino financiers who attended rock, ski and ice courses. As soon as I turned seventeen, I applied for enlistment, obtaining my mother's consent with no little effort. The nine years I spent in the Guardia di Finanza, most of them in Alpine Rescue, were unforgettable.
In 1965 I was sent to Bormio where I met a pretty young girl who was a promising skier and a natural talent. For several decades my wife Clara and I managed a small hotel in the centre of Bormio.
In 1992 after years of professional satisfaction and with many sacrifices we bought the Miramonti Park Hotel which I still manage with my sons Dario and Lucio.
The rest is recent history.
Dario Da Zanche,
is a former athlete, ski instructor and airplane and helicopter pilot.
So if you need to familiarize yourself with skiing, or some technical advice, he's the right person!
If you want to experience the thrill of a helicopter flight, Dario will be happy to show you Bormio from a different (and higher!) perspective!
Born in Bormio in 1974. Hotelier, former athlete, ski instructor and all-round flying enthusiast.
He graduated from the hotel school of Bormio with the title of Technical Hotelier and still continues with passion and dedication the art of hospitality that for generations has distinguished the family with his brother Lucio and his father Geremia, inspired by the precious teaching of his mother Clara who unfortunately passed away in the first decade of the new millennium.
In the last decade, in addition to running the family's historic hotel, the Miramonti Park Hotel in Bormio, the business has expanded to Romagna, Riccione and Santa Caterina Valfurva.
In 2000 he founded the Comitato Organizzatore Manifestazioni Bormiesi (Bormio Events Organizing Committee) thanks to which he organizes national and international events of a touristic and sporting nature.
Thanks to the union with Francesca, who also works with Dario in hotels, Pietro and Alessia were born in 2008 and 2011 respectively.
The passion for the mountains, sport and competitiveness is a common denominator in the Da Zanche family and the father put Dario on skis at the age of 3. He has been a member of the Bormio ski club for several years, obtaining good results, especially in the fast disciplines.
At the age of 17 a problem with his knees fortunately resolved prevented him from continuing to compete and in 1995 he became a ski instructor affiliated with the National Ski School of Bormio and a trainer within the Bormio Ski Club where he had been an athlete for many years.
Even today, compatibly with his entrepreneurial commitments, he still teaches and accompanies the guests of his family's hotels to ski on their home slopes.
Since he was very young, however, Dario is kidnapped by another exciting passion: flying.
At the age of 17 years he obtained the certificate of pilot of ultralight aircrafts, followed by the patent of glider pilot, the patent of private pilot of motor aircraft (PPLA) and the specialization of aerobatics of both specialties by participating in some national competition. In 2017 he also obtains the license for conducting remotely piloted aircraft (drone) for commercial purposes. In all these years he has totaled more than 2000 hours of flight and in the first half of 2018 to complete a dream pursued since he was a boy is expected to obtain the patent of private pilot helicopter.(PPLH)
Lucio Da Zanche,
is an affirmed car driver, multiple Italian Historic Rally Champion and European Champion in 2016 with Porsche; Ferrari test driver and safe driving instructor for Scuderia De Adamich.
Passionate about cycling and trekking, he will gladly accompany you on the paths of the Valley.
And if you are also attracted by engines, you can spend a day on four wheels with Lucio, to share the thrill of driving on the hairpin bends or for some technical driving advice. In winter you can practice with him on the ice rink at the Ice Driving School in Livigno.
Lucio Da Zanche, born in Bormio, born in 1970, has always been an entrepreneur in the tourism sector and is a successful car driver and safe driving instructor for the De Adamich racing team.
Over the years he has managed some of the family businesses, including the Taulà restaurant, which later became Filò, the San Vitale hotel and the Nazionale hotel.
Today, together with Dario and his father, he follows the family structures, where he transfers his passion for cars and engines with projects linked to it, among which the "Petrol Head" project linked to the Miramonti Park, which he likes to define the first Petrol Head Hotel in the Alps.
He is also the owner of DazzainMotion, a reality aimed at organizing events related to the automotive industry, and which is linked to Lucio's great passion for rallies, where he has built his long and prestigious career as a driver, one of the most successful ever in Valtellina.
He debuts with karts in 1988, but the "real" competitive career begins in 1994, always on track with karts. In the speciality he gets numerous successes until 2001.
In 2000 he makes his debut in the world of rallies, immediately distinguishing himself with historic cars. The rallies become the main competitive activity at the wheel of the prestigious cars of the PORSCHE brand. With the 911 models prepared by PENTACAR, Lucio grinds victories and important placings in the competitions of the European FIA Championship and of the Italian Championship, becoming soon one of the reference drivers in the continental panorama.
Eclectic driver, his driving, clean and profitable, expresses itself at its best also on board of the powerful and spectacular prototypes of the hillclimbs with which he successfully competes in the Italian Championship (the CIVM), where he participates starting from the Trofeo Danti in 2003 and, later, in selected events.
Between PISTA, SALITA and RALLY, the consecration among the greats of this last speciality arrives in 2011 with the conquest of the title of Absolute Italian Champion, that the talent of Bormio repeats the following year, in 2012, and touches in 2013 (when he wins anyway the title of Italian Champion of 2nd grouping). The historic trio is only postponed: with an imperious ride Da Zanche conquers it in 2016.
In between, in 2014, the champion from Valtellina launches the challenge to the European Championship. A real adventure ended with the triumph in the last appointment in Hungary after exciting duels against all the Nordic specialists and numerous victories and placings always at the top of the most important rallies throughout the continent: Sanremo, Elba, Eastern Alps, San Marino, Greece, Finland, Ireland, Spain and Hungary.
The Continental review sees him as a great protagonist also in the 2017 season where Lucio gets the third place in the 2nd grouping, but above all it will be remembered for the heated and exciting challenge with his friend rival and former F1 driver Eric Comas.
