KNAUER Fashion & Traditional Costume What started in 1953 as a small tailor's shop is now continued by "Grandpa Gustl's granddaughter" Susanne in the 3rd generation. How it all began: Gustl Knauer learned the tailoring trade together with his brother Sepp in the Kunbauer tailor shop in Mayrhofen. and then, as a master of his trade, ventured into self-employment in 1953. In the course of time, up to 5 tailors were employed in the tailor shop, who did their work in "Gustls Bauernstube" in the cellar. Times were changing and suddenly some places were already selling ready-made clothes. Of course, this trend was immediately taken into account and the tailor's shop was expanded to include "ready-made clothing". In 1963, an annex was built to create a "real shop" including a tailor's shop. Elfriede Knauer managed the shop from then on and Gustl the tailor shop. Almost 40 years after the founding of the company, son Franz Knauer took over the reins in 1992 and after a new renovation and expansion of the business, "Männermode Knauer" shone in a new look. Of course, tradition obliges and therefore the Zillertal traditional costume as well as alteration work is still done in the tailoring Knauer. In 2016 Franz Knauer handed over the reins of "Männermode Knauer" to his daughter Susanne Pukl in the 3rd generation and together they were able to lead the business into a new era in 2018 after a complete renovation.
