Viale Tassoni, 5, Riccione
If you sharpen your eyesight on a clear day, it is possible to see from the coast a solitary giant nestled in the green territory of the Malatesta Seignory: it is the castle of Montefiore, a defensive bulwark and summer residence of the powerful family.
WHY VISIT IT
Montefiore is the medieval capital of the Conca Valley and one of the most intact and fascinating towns of the Malatesta Seignory. Here you can breathe a special air. It may be the imposing fortress with its severe lines that can be glimpsed as far as the sea, it may be the woods and countryside that surround the historic center, it may be its artisans' workshops, its ancient rituals, the view of the Apennine mountains and the entire Romagna coast: everything contributes to creating a special situation where history and nature have found an excellent balance. It is no coincidence that Montefiore is part of the prestigious circuit of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy."
Within the old walls one can admire the chapel of the Ospedale del Pozzo, the church of San Paolo, and the lovely 19th-century theater.
Suggestive nighttime events are organized on summer evenings.
Around the castle, numerous traditional small restaurants.
