St. Nicholas and "Krampus" parade

It's that time again! Every year St. Nicholas and his bloodcurdling helpers descend on Colle. While St. Nicholas gives gifts to the well behaved children, his helpers, called “Krampus”, want only to punish the naughty children. The helpers are frightening, fur covered figures who wear horned wooden masks and huge clanging bells. The numerous South Tyrolean “Krampus” Parades are a very old tradition held every year in the lead up to Christmas.
