Details

South Tyrol is an alpine paradise, and the Gsieser Valley is well renowned for its large number of managed huts, all of which can be reached via great hiking trails that lead through a wide variety of forests.

The starting point is the Talschußhütte in St. Magdalena. From here we follow the signposts nr. 12/13 for a few minutes and then turn right and ascend alongside the “Pfoi” stream, taking the shortcut "Pfoirisse" into the “Pfoi” Valley. When we reach the “Pfoi Alm”, we turn off and hike a short distance along the Alpine trail 2000 to the “Uwald Alm” (2,042m). From here we can enjoy wonderful views of the Gsieser Valley and the surrounding peaks, and the Dolomites seem close enough to touch. After a break and a rest on the alpine meadow, we return to Hotel Quelle.

Walking time: approx. 3.5 hours

approx. 600 metres altitude difference

Level of difficulty: moderate to difficult hike
