On the way on the Vinschger Sonnenberg, a unique steppe vegetation where even cacti can be found. The meeting point for this tour is the lower parking lot at the sports field in Laces. We drive togetherwith our own car for about 15 minutes in the direction of Naturns. From the starting point in Staben, we make a leisurely ascent through pine and chestnut forests, alternating with typical steppe vegetation, accompanied by the sound of the water of the Waale. A sea of white apple blossoms spreads out below us in the valley. We also briefly walk along the so-called "Via Vinum Venostis", the Venosta Valley Wine Trail. Due to the extreme sunshine and low rainfall, there is a unique steppe vegetation on the Vinschger Sonnenberg where even cacti can be found and, at the right time of year, you can even admire their flowers. At the end of the rushing Waal valley, we reach the famous Juval Castle and the lord of the castle is none other than
Reinhold Messner, probably the most famous South Tyrolean. After the approx. 2.5 to 3-hour hike, we stop off at a farm inn. After refreshments, we then hike back to the starting point.
