Sportplatz Goldrain
This peak offers a gigantic view in all directions, probably the most beautiful panoramic peak in the upper Vinschgau Valley.
Meeting point for this tour is the large parking lot at the sports field in Goldrain. We drive together with our own car to the upper Vinschgau and over a narrow, but asphalted mountain road to a small parking lot above the Lichtenberger Höfe at 1.535m. Here starts our panoramic mountain tour, first comfortably over the wide Almenweg in moderate gradient to the Berger and Dorfer Alm (not managed) and further over a pleasant climb to a shepherd's hut where we take a small rest. Now we are already above the timberline and continue into a wide saddle over the tree-free ridge to the broad summit plateau of the Glurnser Köpfl. The panorama up here is really impressive, from Lake Reschen over the Ötztal Alps, to the really big ones like Ortler, Königsspitze, Cevedale and Zufallspitze to the Dolomites can be enjoyed here. After a refreshment (own provisions) at the summit, it then goes downhill on the broad mountain ridge and we cross in the up and down again over to the Hirtenhütte. From here, we then cross the partly steep forest to the Almenweg and continue back to the starting point.
