Hike to the Ostlerhütte at the Breitenberg (Pfronten)

The Ostler Hütte at the summit of the Breitenberg at 1,838m above sea level boasts a unique 360° Alpine panorama of the Allgäu and Tyrolean mountains. However, the hut is a popular hiking destination not only because of the view, but also because of the excellent Allgäu cuisine.

The hiking time from the parking lot in Pfronten-Steinach is approx. 3 hours. First, the trail leads through the Reichenbachklamm gorge up to the Hochalpe. The route then continues via the Hochalpe into the hiking area on the Breitenberg to the Ostler Hütte. The hiking trails are well signposted.

Alternatively, you can take the Breitenberg and Hochalpbahn cable cars up to 1600m and from there walk along a steep gravel path for around 30 minutes to the Ostler Hütte.

From the hotel, drive towards Füssen and turn off towards Reutte before the Lechbrücke bridge. At the traffic circle, take the second exit and then turn left after the railroad crossing towards Vils/Pfronten. The Breitenbergbahn is located shortly after the start of Pfronten-Steinach on the left-hand side.
