Tour description:

From the Matreier Tauernhaus, this leisurely hike follows a wide road through the impressive Gschlösstal valley, considered one of the most beautiful valley heads in the Eastern Alps. Passing the Wohlgemuthalmen, you’ll soon reach Außergschlöß. From there, the trail follows the wild and romantic Gschlößbach stream into the valley. A special highlight is the picturesque rock chapel of the Nativity of Mary, which was impressively built into a massive boulder and is one of the most famous photo spots in the Hohe Tauern National Park. You then reach the historic alpine village of Innergschlöß with a magnificent view of the glacier landscape surrounding the Großvenediger.

The same hiking trail can be used for the return trip. Alternatively, you can take the comfortable Gschlösser Panorama Train back to the Matreier Tauernhaus and relax while enjoying the impressive landscape.
