❄️ REDISCOVER WINTER: THE FIRST SKI OPENING IN THE KLEINWALSERTAL

Anticipation for winter is building—and this year, the Kleinwalsertal is kicking off the season with a first! From December 11 to 13, 2026, a weekend full of winter sports, history, and shared experiences awaits you.

On Friday, December 11, the slope at the Kesslerlift in Riezlern will be transformed into a special stage starting at 7 p.m.: Under the title “Pioneering Spirit in the Snow,” you’ll experience an impressive production centered on the history of winter sports in the Kleinwalsertal. Admission is free.

Winter has a rich history in the Kleinwalsertal. For the Ski Opening, we’re bringing it to life: The slope at the Kesslerlift becomes the stage for a special journey through time. Mathias Kessler takes you from the Walser origins in 1302, through the first ski pioneers, all the way to modern freestyle—and shows what still inspires us today.

Historic skis and costumes, choreographed ski routines, lighting, music, and narration let you experience the evolution of winter sports up close.

This ski show also marks the start of your winter adventure in the Kleinwalsertal. Discover the winter program that follows and find out what awaits you this season.

On Saturday and Sunday, you can get active yourself: From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., free ski and snowboard test sessions await you at the Kanzelwand, the Ideallift, the Parsenn, and the Ifen. If you’d like, you can try out the equipment on short guided runs and get tips on technique.
