100 years of Pongau heritage associations

Celebrating 100 years of the Gauverband der Pongauer Heimatvereinigungen

The Gauverband der Pongauer Heimatvereinigungen was founded in 1926 by Schorsch Windhofer the Elder and Dr. Cassio Castelpietra. They set themselves the task of preserving traditional costume, folk song, folk music, folk dance, Schuhplattler, customs and dialect in Pongau and passing them on to their descendants. Furthermore, they wanted to support the Pongau associations in their work and thus further develop Pongau customs in all places.

The Gauverband der Pongauer Heimatvereinigungen will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026.

To mark the occasion, a big anniversary will be held on Sunday, 14 June 2026.
