Hotel Traube Post am Reschensee
The tour starts directly at the hotel. From here, the route initially takes a leisurely ride along the cycle path along the lakeshore towards Malles/Mals, into the Upper Venosta Valley basin. The route runs along well-maintained cycle paths and consortial connecting roads - ideal for mountain bikes or e-bikes. There are always beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and villages along the way.
Mals
The first major town on the tour. Worth seeing: the Fröhlichsturm tower, St. Benedict's Church with unique frescoes from the Carolingian period and the attractive pedestrian zone with cafés and small stores. Malles/Mals is also known for its role in the pesticide debate - as the first village in Europe to actively campaign for pesticide-free agriculture.
Burgeis
Just a few minutes away, Burgeis is a picturesque village with a backdrop steeped in history. The Marienberg monastery, with its small vineyard, towers high above the village. Below it lies the impressive Fürstenburg castle. The village center captivates with its tranquility, well-kept courtyards and original architecture.
Tartsch
A quiet village dominated by the Tarscher Bühel - a hill with archaeological significance and the small Romanesque church of St. Veit. The place is mysterious and has a special charm.
Glurns
A real highlight of the tour: South Tyrol's smallest town with fully preserved town walls, three gate towers, cobblestones and a lively town center. Glurns invites you to linger - ideal for a cappuccino on the town square or a short stroll through the alleyways.
Schluderns
On the outskirts of the town rises the imposing Churburg Castle, one of the best-preserved castles in the Alps. The village itself is home to the Venosta Valley Museum, which has plenty to offer culturally with changing exhibitions and a permanent exhibition on the prehistoric hilltop settlement of Ganglegg.
Lichtenberg
A small, friendly village overlooked by the ruins of Lichtenberg, which stands prominently on a hill. Ideal for a short break with a view of the valley floor.
Prad am Stilfserjoch
An active village with many leisure activities. It is home to the aquaprad National Park House, which currently has exhibitions on the local flora and fauna. The church of St. Johann is also worth a visit.
Spondinig
A strategically important transportation hub. The military cemetery commemorates those who died on the Ortler Front. The train station is also located here, which connects many villages. The traditional Hotel Post tells of past travelers and imperial and royal times.
Tschengls
A quiet, small village under the Tschenglser Hochwand. The St. Ottilia Chapel and the Kulturgasthaus Tschengelsburg with its massive walls and cultural events are well worth a stopover.
Laas
At the end of the loop, you reach the famous marble village of Laas. Here, everything revolves around the white Lasa marble, which is used internationally. There are many old monuments and places worth seeing in the village center. Particularly beautiful: a walk along the Kandlwaal, a historic waterway.
Return journey:
Depending on your mood and time, the return journey can take the same route or - for tired legs - a section can be covered on the Vinschgau Valley Railway. From Malles/Mals, the cycle path leads steadily uphill again towards Lake Resia/Reschensee - back to the hotel.
