Hike Vellauer Felsenweg to the Leiteralm and back by basket lift

We take the hotel bus to Vellau and hike from here along the impressive rocky path up to the Hochmuth viewing platform. From here, we can look out over the whole of Merano and as far as the Dolomites. The path meanders along the slope for most of the way, but is secured with chains so that it is easy to master with a little fitness and surefootedness. We continue along the Merano High Trail to the Leiteralm, which offers a large sun terrace and South Tyrolean specialties. We have well and truly earned a refreshment stop up here. Afterwards, a special highlight awaits us, the ride back to Vellau on the basket lift. The basket lift was specially developed for hikers. It is made entirely of wire and reaches up to an adult's chest. This allows you to enjoy the beautiful landscape, e.g. the magnificent view of the Adige Valley, without any restrictions and take great photos during the ride. However, the basket lift is less recommended for people who are not free from giddiness.
