A priest, a singer, a vacuum cleaner salesman and a hippie meet by chance in a remote hotel, but not to spend a vacation together.

The El Royale Hotel in the resort town of Lake Tahoe is located right on the border between California and Nevada, which made it an attraction in the 1960s when gambling was banned in California. However, after the hotel lost its gambling license, the guests stayed away. On a rainy day in 1969, a priest, a singer and a vacuum cleaner salesman check in at the same time. When a mysterious hippie on the run from a cult leader also wants a room, it soon becomes clear that none of these people are at the El Royale for a vacation.
