*Excursion to Dürrenstein with Gerd

Located east of the Plätzwiese high plateau, Dürrenstein offers something for every level and expectation. The hike begins from the Plätzwiese car park along a gravel road to the Plätzwiese mountain inn. Just after the inn, turn left and follow a wide path uphill across meadows to Dolomite High Route No. 3. Then head north, ascending the steep, grassy and rocky slopes of the Dürrenstein’s southwest flank (partly via switchbacks) to the pre-summit. After a small saddle, there is a short section secured with a wire rope. From there, it's only a few more steps to the summit cross. Note: The hike is very exposed to the sun.
