Alpine cattle drive Pfronten

More than 400 Schumpen are driven back down into the valley after their 100-day summer stay and handed over to their owners by the Alpine herdsmen on the Scheidplatz.

The herds driven back down into the valley from the seven different Pfronten Alps are led by the leading cows, which are magnificently and colorfully adorned with the traditional headdress.

The Pfrontener Harmoniemusik accompanies the herds for the last few meters to the Scheidplatz.

On 12.09.25 in the evening at 19:00, there is also a traditional parade through Pfronten with around 1000 participants to kick off the festival weekend.

On 12.09.25 & 13.09.25 from around 8 a.m., the big Viehscheid with a market takes place in Pfronten.
