The Maria Almer pilgrimage - better known as the Bartholomä pilgrimage - is one of the oldest high mountain pilgrimages in Europe.
The walk takes around nine hours and is a demanding challenge. The history of the Almer pilgrimage dates back to 1635. According to legend, it was created by the people of Saalfelden as thanks for surviving a series of plague pandemics.
No registration required - a bus ticket must be booked in advance.
