The author: Alfred Pohler was born in Reutte/Tyrol in 1931. He has been researching and photographing alpine flora for over 40 years. Countless hikes in the Tyrolean, South Tyrolean and Swiss Alps have taken him to the most remote locations of Alpine flowers. By exploring the various stages of vegetation at different times of the year, he gained extensive knowledge of the growing conditions of these interesting and often extremely rare flowers. This knowledge also enabled him to discover rare flowering plants in previously unknown locations. The protection of endangered plants in the alpine regions is of particular concern to the author. Numerous lectures and specialist books on alpine flowers and meadow flowers, medicinal plants, aromatic plants and much more have made him well known at home and in neighboring countries.
