Helpful facts

A special mountain hike or summit tour is certainly this one in the Zirmtal Valley. The Zirmtal Valley is one of the most beautiful high valleys in South Tyrol, with the idyllic Zirmtalsee lake and the Zirmtal Alm mountain hut, which is open to the public. We take our own car along the mountain road to the parking lot at approx. 1,500 m (the last section is unpaved). We first hike leisurely along the forest road, then on a moderate incline, becoming steeper and steeper up to the Bärenloch at 2,200m, where you can already enjoy a wonderful view of the Burggrafenamt and the lower Vinschgau Valley. From here, mountain hikers can reach the Zirmtalsee lake below and the Zirmtal Alm, the destination for mountain hikers who can then relax comfortably by the lake, in around 15 minutes. Brave swimmers can take a dip in the cool mountain lake. For summit-hungry, experienced and fit mountain hikers, the trail starts at the Bärenloch. Via an unmarked path, the route now leads over the broad summit ridge, partly without a path, somewhat exposed in some places and partly on rugged terrain to the Murmetleitspitz at 2,478m (only in good conditions). After a short rest at the summit, we take a hiking trail down to the Zirmtalsee lake, where hut host Max provides us with food and drink on the alpine pasture. The descent is on the other side of the valley to the starting point at the parking lot. You can decide on the spot whether you choose the mountain hike or the summit tour; the experienced mountain guide will take you safely to your destination. (Variant 2 summit tour: ascent 1,020 hm length approx. 11 km walking time approx. 5:45 hours - minimum number of participants 2 persons).
