ROUTE:
An uphill-only stage in the magnificent Rezzalo Valley among forests, pastures and rhododendrons, you will arrive at the Alpe Pass and then descend to the Gavia Valley. The stage begins in the parking lot of Fontanaccia, above the village of Frontale in Sondalo. Initially you will walk through a section in the woods on a path until you reach the characteristic Baite de La Pontela and then continue on a dirt road to the Piana di San Gaetano in the locality of San Bernardo where the small church of the same name stands. The climb continues on a winding military road until reaching a challenging section on a stony surface. When you reach the Alpe Pass at 2,466 meters above sea level, the highest point of the itinerary, you descend to the Malga dell'Alpe where it is possible to eat or spend the night.
