With the "Germany meets Peru" project, we as AKZENT Hotelkooperation are supporting two sustainable initiatives at once - internationally and right on our doorstep. The idea behind it: In the tropics, rapid growth binds a lot of CO₂, especially in the first few years, while at the same time we strengthen the local nature. In Peru, the Forliance Brazil nut rainforest REDD+ project in the Madre de Dios region protects valuable rainforest, promotes biodiversity and secures a stable income for 405 families who cultivate Brazil nuts. In Germany, the Re-Spire project is restoring a robust mixed forest in the Palatinate part of the Westerwald - with climate-tolerant tree species, care and adapted wildlife management. In this way, we are creating long-term carbon storage, habitat and local recreation. If you would like to know more, please contact us - we will be happy to tell you how you can be part of it with your stay.
