Reinanken from the Hallstättersee

Instead of the fishing rod, it goes with nets on Reinanken. Fish ahoy is the name of the game for the professional fishermen. The master fisherman and his assistant set the nets the day before. Now they look to see how many Reinanken have become entangled in the meshes overnight. They call it wild catch. No breeding, no aquaculture. The only two professional fishermen on Lake Hallstatt are employees of the Austrian Federal Forests and go out on the water early in the morning almost every day of the year. Their catch goes to the sales outlets of Fischerei Ausseerland as well as directly to us at the Landhotel Agathawirt and onto the plates of our guests in the evening.
