Exhibition by Christina Elsässer: So Close to the Mountains
Christina Elsässer’s drawings are detailed depictions of the Kleinwalsertal landscape in charcoal—a medium that symbolizes transience, fragility, and change. The additions in gold ink create a deliberate contrast: they represent the appreciation and beauty of nature while also highlighting its economic value.
Christina grew up in the Kleinwalsertal valley and is studying art in Munich. She is interested in the relationship between humans and the environment: How do landscapes change as a result of human use? What does nature mean to us?
The work was created as part of the “das offene Tal” project, in which artists are invited to display their work in public. An initiative by artist and curator Mathias Kessler for the Culture and Traditions Committee of the municipality of Mittelberg.
Where: Walserstrasse 63 | Sternpassage Riezlern | Café Amadé
When: The paintings are on view through March 30, 2027, during the Sternpassage | Café Amadé’s regular hours.
