On the Tegelberg, a little below the mountain station of the Tegelbergbahn, lies the Tegelberghaus at over 1700m.
It is the former hunting lodge of King Ludwig II's father and looks back on a history of almost 200 years. It can be reached via various hiking trails.
The hike from the Tegelbergbahn car park is via the Rohrkopfhütte.
Likewise you can start from Hohenschwangau over the Marienbrücke, behind Neuschwanstein Castle,
or by hiking over the Drehhütte to the Tegelberghaus. Another variant leads over the Bleckenau and the Ahornreitweg to the Tegelberghaus. Good physical condition and surefootedness are a prerequisite for all routes.
For the ascent there are about 900 meters of altitude difference. The walking time is about 2.5 - 3 hours.
You can get more tips for the ascent at our hotel reception or buy discounted tickets for the Tegelbergbahn.
