Startplatz Parkplatz Tauernblick am Pass Thurn
Gut Sonnberghof - Naturhotel
Set against the magnificent backdrop of the Hohe Tauern, the moorland group lies at an altitude of between 1200 and 1500 m in the Salzburg Slate Alps. The occurrence of different types of moor, which are closely intertwined with alder swamp forests and the surrounding blueberry-spruce forests, results in the coexistence of numerous different habitats.
Way description
Starting from the parking lot, there are various tours through and around the moor with the trail numbers 71, 77, 77D. The best-known circular tour on the moor is the Bärenfilzrunde with trail number 77. You start your tour at the viewing pavilion and hike along the Hackschnitzelweg through the beautiful landscape of the Wasenmoos. At the end of the woodchip path, you come to a forest road. Keep to the right and follow the road uphill. After a few meters in altitude, the road branches off and you keep to the right, always on the hiking trail with the number 77. At the next two junctions, always keep to the right. After a good downhill section, the forest thins out and you reach a stream, where your body and mind can enjoy the cool refreshment. Then turn right and continue on a gravel road with trail no. 702 A to the viewing pavilion.
