According to a Scandinavian tradition, you will make a little door for your elf for the New Year so that he can move in with you.

With a small lantern or a light that you put on the window, he will be lured and welcomed. He is so small that he needs the ladder to reach the door to his kingdom. There he rests.

He writes you letters with, for example, small tasks, activities or little surprises, which he puts through the letter slot.

You can then write him back or draw something.

You can furnish the elf's room as you like.

The door is usually attached above the baseboard, but you can also have your elf move in on a shelf, on the windowsill, on a staircase or wherever you like.

The elf never shows his face, otherwise he would lose his magical powers. That's why he's only out and about at night when everyone is asleep so that he doesn't have to hide all the time.
