Trekking to Lake Braies

Helpful facts

Challenging trekking in a place shrouded in legend, where the wild mountain world and the cultural landscape of the alpine pastures tended by the animals become one in an incredible way and provide us with unique views. We start at the spectacular Lake Braies, whose waters reflect the massive rock faces of the Croda del Becco, a true legend in the mountains and one of the natural wonders of the Dolomites. We hike through the forest up to the mountain pasture where the animals graze: Fojedöra, a magical place where time has stood still and which is off the beaten track, an authentic and pristine place. The meadows are home to an extraordinary variety of species and offer us a view of a lake of its own: Lake Fojedöra. During the hike, we move through the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lunch

There is the option of stopping off at the Fojedöra hut, or everyone can take a packed lunch with them.

How to get there

The tourist office in San Vigilio can be reached from Brunico/Bruneck via Zwischenwasser. In San Vigilio, the office is located at Str. Plan de Corones 38, on the road towards Furkelpass.

You can park in the underground parking garage at the Bar Stadio (for a fee) or at the entrance to San Vigilio, in front of the Hotel Monte Sella (free of charge). The parking lot is located approx. 400 m from the tourist office.

What you should definitely bring with you: Hiking boots, jacket, water, sunscreen. Also recommended: Hiking poles

Cancellation policy

100% refund if canceled up to 6 p.m. three days before, 50% refund if canceled up to 6 p.m. two days before, no refund if canceled from 6 p.m. two days before.

If the hike is canceled due to bad weather or other reasons, the fee paid by the customer will be refunded or converted into a voucher that can be used for another hike.

Offer description

The participation fee includes the cab ride to Lake Braies, the organization and administration of the activities and the guide/accompaniment during the hike.

The event must be paid for in advance online or at the information office. Payment on site at the start of the event is not possible.

Registration is only valid once payment has been received. Unpaid registrations expire after 2 hours and are automatically deleted.
