Alpine Zoo Innsbruck - Tip of the day

Helpful facts

At the foot of the Nordkette, above the roofs of Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, lies the Alpine Zoo at an altitude of 750 meters. On a little more than 5 hectares, about 2000 alpine animals of about 150 species are cared for in enclosures, terrariums and aquariums designed close to nature.

A visit to the ALPENZOO is a special experience at any time of the year! Even in winter almost all animal species can be seen, because only the marmots, reptiles and amphibians sleep through the cold season. From April - June most young animals are born in the ALPENZOO, with ibex, chamois and roe deer in May - June. From the beginning of March, on the other hand, many bird species are courting or busy building their nests, which is always exciting to watch.
