PATH:
The trail (trail marker No. 130) begins at the highest point reached from the paved road, at some garbage cans. You take it and climb diagonally up a steep grassy slope, passing at the base of some stratified rock walls and crossing the various streams that flow down from the mountain above. You then reach a small shelf crossed by a stream (water intake) and, immediately beyond, skirt a small perennial pool reaching a junction (elevation about 2380). Go right, descending briefly through meadows, then rejoin the trail, which resumes its diagonal ascent. Having reached a fork where it is indifferent to go left or right since the branches come together shortly after, you begin to climb more steeply, first with a few switchbacks through grass and rocks, then bending slightly to the left. Further up the slope decreases and the trail turns right, leading to a wide grassy saddle (elevation 2640).
The trail descends gently into a small stony valley traversed by a small stream, then more steeply along the grassy slope leading to the lonely basin of Black Lake (2550 m).
