An individual tour starting in Heiden - with magnificent views over the lake. You can either take the PostBus or hike along the famous "Witzweg" trail to Walzenhausen. Along the way, you will be accompanied by some "funny" Appenzell jokes. It is also possible to walk only part of the joke trail and travel the other part by PostBus (there are PostBus stops directly on the trail in Wolfhalden and in Hueb).
In Walzenhausen, the cogwheel railroad awaits to take you down to Rheineck at a brisk pace. There, the boat promises a romantic trip through the nature reserve of the Old Rhine - into the bay of Rorschach. From Rorschach, take the Heiden-Rorschach Railway and you'll be back at the Hotel Heiden.
The route can also be taken in the opposite direction.
The adventure cruise takes around 4 hours, with a hike around 6 hours.
The cruise season starts on 14 May and lasts until 4 October 2026.
