"Animal" fun - in the family zoo in the countryside.
To bring visitors as close as possible to the animals, many enclosures in Nordhorn are designed to be walkable & several petting zoos make children's hearts beat faster.
Another special feature of the zoo is the "Naturpfad Vechteaue". Here children and young people are introduced to the secrets of animals and nature with educational games. If you follow the adventure path on stilts through the beautiful alluvial forest biotope at the oxbow of the Vechte River, you will reach the historic Vechtehof. The original farm, which is over 100 years old and has a real farm garden, is home to many different old and in part highly endangered breeds of domestic animals. Absolute visitor magnet is the petting zoo with piglets of the Bunten Bentheimer pigs.
Tip: Even dogs are allowed here!
