Ashtanga Yoga is a powerful yet meditative style of yoga that combines breath, movement, and concentration into a flowing experience. The term “Ashtanga” comes from Sanskrit and means “eight limbs”—a reference to the holistic path of yoga, which aims to bring body, mind, and spirit into harmony.
A hallmark of Ashtanga Yoga is the fixed sequence of poses (asanas) performed in a dynamic rhythm. Each movement is consciously synchronized with the breath (Ujjayi Pranayama), creating a form of “movement meditation.” This continuous practice generates internal heat that purifies, strengthens, and increases the body’s flexibility.
In addition to the physical challenge, Ashtanga Yoga also promotes mental clarity and discipline. The focus on breathing and focal points (drishti) helps calm the mind and fully ground oneself in the moment.
Ashtanga Yoga is therefore more than just a workout—it is a structured path to greater mindfulness, inner peace, and personal development.
