Stalactite cave Gassl

A beautiful stalactite cave that you can explore on a 50-minute guided tour. The year-round temperature is 6.2°C, so long-sleeved clothing is recommended. Open for visits in the summer, on Saturdays and Sundays.

From the “bus terminal,” it’s a good 30 minutes to the Gasselhütte and the cave (about 2.5 hours from the parking lot at Ebensee). And the final ascent is quite a challenge! It’s steep, with large rocks and roots, and the final 100 meters are somewhat exposed—you should have a decent head for heights. (That would also be an advantage inside the cave.) You should also be in good physical condition and wear sturdy shoes.

The cave itself is truly impressive! During the 50-minute guided tour, you’ll learn a lot about how the cave was formed and see beautiful stalactite and stalagmite formations. The cave is definitely a top recommendation! And a wonderful adventure....
