We hike past the "Kaiserstein", the favorite lookout and power spot of Empress "Sissi" on hiking trail [9] in the direction of the lower Hirzelsteig. On the little used path we meet with a little luck a few chamois. In the midst of this wild landscape, countless anemones, gentians, various medicinal herbs, freshly sprouted larches and ancient stone pine trees delight us. Right along the path we find sandstone slabs full of shell fossils and a huge stone covered with large and small cairns. Passing several fresh springs, which are perfect for a Kneipp bath to strengthen the heart and increase energy, we come to the Hirzelsteig trail towards the Kölner Hütte. The descent is via trail [1] to the Messnerjoch Hut, where we have a late lunch by arrangement or continue directly down to the mountain station. With the cable car Laurin I we go to Welschnofen, where our beautiful day hike finds a cooling and good end at the Kneipp pool there.
