MONDI Hotel Tscherms, Via delle Palade 40, 39010, Cermes
How is honey made, how is a bee colony organized, and why are these industrious, seemingly tireless insects so important to us? Answers to these and other questions are provided during this guided excursion into the world of bees and beekeepers.
Expert Christian Kessler from the Partschins Beekeepers’ Association vividly illustrates the life of these hardworking little pollinators, demonstrating the bees’ working methods and astonishing social behavior at an open beehive, and explaining how honey makes its way from the flower to the jar with the South Tyrolean label. Equipped with the proper protective gear, you can marvel at and touch the inner workings of the beehive up close. This tour also explains in detail the role of the beekeeper, exactly what his tasks are, and how he must strictly adapt them to the rhythm of the bee year.
You can then sample the exceptional quality of South Tyrolean honey for yourself during a tasting of various honey varieties.
