Journey CO2 free
From Vienna, take the train to St. Pölten, then change to the Mariazellerbahn through the Dirndl Valley in the foothills of the Alps to the Mariazell terminus.
We will be happy to pick you up free of charge at Mariazell train station. Please let us know your arrival time in good time.
You can arrive by public transport bus directly from Graz, Bruck an der Mur, Mürzzuschlag or Vienna several times a day.
Journey by car
From Vienna, take the A1 Westautobahn to the St. Pölten Süd exit. Then take the B20 (Mariazeller Bundesstraße) 76km south, either via Annaberg and Josefsberg or turn left off the B20 in Freiland onto the B21 and via Hohenberg and St. Aegyd through the Halltal valley to Mariazell (well signposted).
- Variant via the A2 Südautobahn and S6 Semmering Schnellstraße to Mürzzuschlag, then via Neuberg and Mürzsteg on the B21 to Mariazell.
- Coming from Graz, take the A9 Pyrnautobahn northbound to the exit St. Marein and then over the Pogusch to Turnau (Seebergsattel) and from Au on the B20 to Mariazell.
- Coming from Salzburg, take the A1 Westautobahn to the Ybbs exit, then the B25 to Scheibbs, continue to the Grubberg and then the B71 over the newly built Zellerrein, along the Erlaufsee to Mariazell.
One parking space is included per chalet or suite directly at the hotel parking lot. Each additional car can be parked in the underground garage in the town center for a fee or at the guest parking lot P5 (Wiener Neustädter Straße) in Mariazell free of charge. For free parking, the guest card must be visibly placed in the car.
Arrival by helicopter
Our partners Hubifly and Heli-Line will take you to the chalet by helicopter. Of course, you can also book sightseeing flights.

Airport
The journey from/to Vienna Airport (approx. 130km) takes a maximum of 2 hours.
If you need a cab transfer from/to the airport, we will be happy to organize it for you. The one-way trip costs € 280,-- / car. (Booking required at least 48 hours in advance - online or by telephone).

Enjoy our breakfast directly in the chalets or, weather permitting, you can also enjoy your breakfast outside on the private terrace.

Weddings
You are welcome to book our Bergdorf Chalets Montestyria exclusively for the overnight stay of your wedding guests. There are 28 beds in total. You can book your wedding reception directly in one of the guesthouses or in the town hall.
Heating
We heat our mountain village CO2 neutrally with a micro district heating system.
Hotel (location)
Montestyria is located above the town center of Mariazell at Kalvarienberg No. 5. The chalets are south-facing and each of the chalets has a unique distant view.
The walk to the town center is 5 minutes. Immediately behind the chalets begins the natural landscape for hiking, biking or simply enjoying nature.
Hotel & surroundings
The Mariazellerland lies between the Hochschwab and Ötscher mountains.
Dogs & pets
Our chalets are located right on the edge of the forest at the foot of the Mariazeller Bürgeralpe. We always receive charming visits from deer and other forest dwellers. We respect the habitats and tranquillity of wild animals and have decided to be dog- and cat-free in the interests of nature.
Hygiene set
We are happy to provide you with various hygiene items and a shaving set if required.

The term bad weather is a human invention. Hiking has its advantages, especially in the rain. Not a soul is outside. It's quiet, foggy, mystical - only the pattering of the rain, your footsteps and your breath can be heard. Rain purifies the forest air - and the oxygen content is particularly high in rain and fog. Your heart and lungs will rejoice. When the ground and mountains "drink", they store and filter rainwater and spit it out again as spring water. Our most important elixir of life.

Shipping and boat hire on Lake Erlaufsee
Since summer 2019, Lake Erlaufsee can also be explored by means of the excursion boat "Christina", which is over a hundred years old and has been completely restored. The steam-powered ship was used on the Danube during the First World War. After the renovation, accumulators provide around 60 horsepower. The "Christina", which can accommodate around 65 passengers on the open deck and in two salons, is intended to prove its worth as a nostalgic tourist attraction.

Your room code also locks the main entrance. This entrance also serves as the night entrance. (Please always keep this door closed for security reasons). Reception is no longer manned from 8.00 p.m.
