Details

At a dizzying height, the world's longest Tibetan-style pedestrian suspension bridge spans the valley of the B 179 Fernpass road, which gives the bridge its name.

Since its opening in 2014, the "highline179" has connected the Ehrenberg castle ruins with Fort Claudia. You shouldn't miss out on exploring the Ehrenberg castle ruins, which are located just a few meters above the suspension bridge.

Ehrenberg enjoyed a peaceful existence for a long time until the religious wars broke out and the castle became the focus of military conflicts on several occasions. In 1971, Fridolin Schennach from Reutte took on the dilapidated ruins and has been working to preserve them ever since.

You can reach "highline179" by driving from the hotel towards Füssen and taking the turn-off towards Reutte before the Lech bridge. After Füssen, drive onto the toll-free B 179 Fernpass road.

Leave this at the "Klause" exit and park your car in the signposted parking spaces (KIause 1/6600 Reutte/Austria). From there, a wide, gravel path leads to the top.

Walking time approx. 30 minutes
