25 meters high, 108 steps: The almost 700-year-old stork tower is the landmark of the town of Zell am Harmersbach. Anyone who has made it to the old tower keeper's room can enjoy a wonderful view and learn all sorts of things about 850 years of town and cultural history of the region.
Because storks love it as a nesting place, the old city tower is called Stork Tower. In the Middle Ages, the cool walls served as a hunger dungeon and tower prison. When the newly founded city museum moved into the Storchenturm in 1960, the prison with its bell of shame, thumbscrew and other instruments of torture remained part of the exhibition.
A treasure trove for lovers of the past.
