We take the hotel bus into the beautiful Schnalstal Valley and

around the turquoise-colored reservoir. Few people know that, in addition to the famous tower in Lake Reschen, there is another sunken church tower in South Tyrol. It is the tower of the Leiterkirchl, which was swallowed up by the reservoir along with the other farms of Alt-Vernagt in the 1950s. However, the remains of the submerged village can only be seen when the water level is extremely low. The hike around the 100-hectare lake is a real pleasure tour that always offers great photo opportunities. Time-honored farms are enthroned on the surrounding mountains and we don't miss out on a stop at the traditional Finailhof. Be aware that the current weather conditions could make this your first winter hike and the path may be slippery and icy in places. Sure-footedness is required in these conditions and poles are an advantage. If the weather is too uncomfortable, the tour can also be shortened. :-)
