Hotel Traube Post am Reschensee
The Panorama Höhenweg is an easy hike with minimal elevation gain, offering a magnificent panoramic view of the Ortler Massif, as well as across Lake Resch and Lake Haider all the way into the Langtauferer Valley.
Getting There: Take the gondola from the Haideralm up to the summit and back down to the valley. The local bus runs hourly and takes you to St. Valentin in 5 minutes; from the bus stop, it’s another 5-minute walk to the gondola.
PANORAMA HÖHENWEG
320 meters of elevation gain | 11 kilometers | 3–4 hours
From the mountain station in St. Valentin, the trail leads toward Resch; then, following trail marker 14, it continues above the tree line to the Schöneben mountain station, where construction work on the new winter gondola is currently underway. From there, the trail leads back to the Haideralm (where you can stop for a bite to eat). You then take the gondola down to St. Valentin and walk back to the bus stop in 5 minutes to continue your journey by bus to Graun.
My tip: Allow at least 45 minutes from the alpine pasture to the bus stop in the valley.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE – Zehnerkopf Summit
For those who want to go higher: The summit hike to the Zehnerkopf (2,675 m) branches off to the right shortly after Schöneben, following trail marker 9B. From the summit, you’ll enjoy a unique panoramic view of all the lakes, stretching all the way to Switzerland and the Ortler Group. The descent follows the marked ascent trail.
In addition to the information above, this option adds approximately 500 meters of elevation gain and 2.5 kilometers.
