Description
On December 5, Fulpmes will once again be swept up in wild magic when the Traditional Tuifllauf—the Stubai dialect term for “Devil’s Run”—takes place on Fulpmes’ church square.
The festivities begin at 7:00 p.m., when the bars around the square open their doors to visitors. The evening gets off to an exciting start, as at 8:00 p.m. the Jungtuifl—the young devils—take center stage and create a mystical atmosphere. A short time later, St. Nicholas appears with his entourage, accompanied by the Tuifln, who cause quite a stir. St. Nicholas brings small gifts for the well-behaved children and puts smiles on their faces.
The Tuifl is St. Nicholas’s eerie companion, and both are among the most important Advent traditions in the Alpine region. So if you’re ever in the area, don’t miss this Tuifllauf.
Traditional Tuifl Procession
The highlight of the evening is the grand Tuifl Procession, considered one of the most spectacular and wildest in all of North Tyrol, held on the church square in Fulpmes. The Tuifls, in their striking costumes and fearsome masks, put on an impressive show that captivates spectators year after year. The burning torches, the rhythmic ringing of bells, and the wild performances of the Tuifl create a unique atmosphere that is a must-see experience.
