Pewter casting at the New Year's Eve snack

As is traditional on New Year's Eve, we have set up a pewter casting station for you at snack time. Pewter casting on New Year's Eve has its origins in oracles to predict the future in the new year. Molten pewter symbolized the unpredictability of fate, and the shaped figures were creatively interpreted. The custom was part of the social celebration and a rite of passage at the turn of the year. We do it for the sheer joy of it and maybe you'll manage to make some cool sculptures :-) Happy pewter casting!
