Mountain hut Maseben | Tiergartenspitze

The Maseben mountain hut is located in Langtaufers, more precisely in Kappl, a hamlet at the rear of Langtaufers.

The parking lot is located in Kappl and is also the starting point of the hike. From there, walk to the former Maseben valley station, cross the Karlinbach stream, climb up to the forest path and follow the path to the left (no. 15). After about 600m, follow the path marked 19 on the right. Take the forest path up through the Zirmwald forest, past the old middle station, the Masebener Alm and the drag lift, which is still in operation in winter, and reach your destination, the Maseben mountain hut. Once you arrive at the mountain hut, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and indulge in culinary delights on the sun terrace. The descent is via the same route.

Note: If you don't feel like hiking, you are welcome to use the shuttle service, which takes guests to the mountain hut in a somewhat adventurous way.

TIERGARTENSPITZE

From the valley: 1.170 vertical meters|5.7 kilometres|3.5 - 4 hours

From Maseben: 750 vertical meters | 3 kilometers |2.5 - 3 hours

From the Maseben mountain hut, follow the Tiergarten signpost and marker no. 19. The path leads over stony terrain and a grassy old moraine wall, straight uphill. You then walk along the west-facing grassy slope and over stone slabs, further up to a flat mountain hollow. Follow the marked mountain trail over steep rocks up to the summit of the Tiergartenspitze. During the hike through the "Tiergarten", you have the opportunity to observe the inhabitants of this region: Marmots, majestic golden eagles and graceful chamois. It is advisable to set off early to see the wildlife in action. The descent is via the same route back to the Maseben mountain hut. There is also the option of a bike + hike. By bike to Maseben and from there hike to the Tiergartenspitze.

How to get there:

By car from the hotel about 9 km into the valley, past hamlets and farmsteads, directly to Kappl. After the hamlet of "Hinterkirch" to the paid parking lot.
