Pilgrimage Basilica Maria Puchheim

The pilgrimage church of Puchheim, built between 1886-1890, was elevated to basilica minor by Pope Pius XII in 1951. Already about 750 years ago there was a castle church in Puchheim, which was dedicated to St. George. This church was certainly smaller than today's St. George's Church. After the image of the "Mother of Perpetual Help" was placed on the side altar of St. George's Church in 1870, the church was bursting at the seams. This image of grace became a landmark of Puchheim. On June 21, 1874, the solemn procession with the image of grace was held for the 1st time. The new pilgrimage church was built largely in the architectural style of the Renaissance. The church looks exactly the same to this day.
