The World Bodypainting Festival (WBF) is coming to Sterzing in South Tyrol for the second time!
For 29 years, the World Bodypainting Festival (WBF) has been the most important event on the international bodypainting scene. The only World Award event in 2026 will be the Camouflage Bodypainting category, which will take place for the second time in Sterzing on July 3 and 3, 2026.
For many years now, this competition has celebrated the art of optical illusion, in which artists make bodies blend perfectly with their surroundings. The growing enthusiasm for this category has led to the competition now spanning two days, giving more artists the opportunity to showcase their skills.
The picturesque Alpine town of Sterzing provides the perfect backdrop for this event. With its historic alleyways, medieval towers, and breathtaking mountain panoramas, the town transforms into an open-air gallery. The tranquil atmosphere allows artists to focus on their art, while visitors can enjoy a unique experience. Starting on July 2, 2026, special side events—including workshops and group gatherings—will get participants in the mood for the competition and foster creative exchange.
Sterzing is also home to Johannes Stötter, the internationally renowned, multiple-time body painting world champion.
At 15 different locations in and around the historic city center of Sterzing, the artists will demonstrate their skills in the challenging “Camouflage” category. At the same time, the artists will have the opportunity to let their creativity run wild during a Creative Bodypainting Jam Session in the city.
