Details

A panoramic trail at its best: fantastic views over Lake Constance to the Swiss and Austrian Alpine peaks as well as the gently rolling hills of the Deggenhauser Valley await you. The combination of beautiful forest paths makes this circular hike a special experience. There is no way around the altitude difference, so a bit of fitness is required.

The ideal starting point is the Schweppenen hiking parking lot above Markdorf. To warm up, climb from there directly to the Gehrenberg tower and of course climb the 150 steps up to the viewing platform. The effort is worth it: there is hardly any other place where you have a more beautiful panoramic view across Lake Constance to the Alps.

Just a few meters further on, you will find yourself in front of the so-called slide, an impressive steep slope. From here and the following Linzgaublick, you have some beautiful views to the west, which are best enjoyed from the cozy swing above Wendlingen. The path turns to the north and offers you more great views down into the Deggenhausertal valley.

Past small hamlets, you continue your loop around the Gehrenberg on leisurely forest paths. Once you reach the southern part of the mountain, you will be delighted by the fantastic views towards Lake Constance that accompany you for quite some time. A final sporty ascent takes you past a pretty old water reservoir and back to the parking lot.
